July 2023 CU for SharePoint Server 2019 is available for download

The product group released the July 2023 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server 2019 product family. SharePoint Server 2019 is patched with a language dependent and a language independent fix.

The KB article for July 2023 CU will be available at the following Location in a couple of hours:

  • KB 5002423 – July 2023 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent)
This is also a security update!
  • There was no language dependent fix released this month.
The most recent language dependent fix is KB 5002403 from June 2023 CU.

The downloads for July 2023 CU are available through the following links:

Important: It is required to install both fixes (language dependent and independent) to fully patch a SharePoint server. This applies also to servers which do not have language packs installed. The reason is that each SharePoint installation includes a language dependent component together with a language independent component. If additional language packs are added later (only) the language dependent fix has to be applied again.

It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. Even the language dependent fixes are all in the same package for all languages.

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2019 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.

Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.

SharePoint 2019 July 2023 CU Build Number:

Language independent fix: 16.0.10400.20008

  2. Hello Stefan,

I guess this CU doesn’t solve June CU’s issue “creating or updating list items in modern experience not possible” ?

    Thanks

  3. If we haven’t applied the June 2023 CU yet is it ok to apply this July 2023 CU (language independent) and the June KB 5002403 (language dependent) at the same time?

    1. Hi Ryan,
yes that is the correct way to apply these fixes.
There is no need to install the language independent fix from June 2023 CU.
      Cheers,
      Stefan

  4. Hello Stefan,
We have not installed the June CU, if we install now the July CU and the June language dependent CU, will we have to deal with the June issue “creating or updating list items in modern experience not possible” or not?

  6. Im having a problem today after installing July 2023 CU last night. I gave a user permission to a Site and they get access denied even though they have Full Control.

Has anyone else seen something like this?

    1. Actually I figured out this issue….unrelated. Poor Permission management on the site/document library. Never mind.

  7. Hi guys,
Anyone seeing strange behavior when the left pane nav on modern view show blank? We’re trying to narrow it down to whether it is a browser issue or something else. Our gut feeling is the browser. For some users, left pane nav loads on Microsoft Edge, but is blank on Chrome. For some users, it is blank on both browsers.
Just throwing it out there, since we haven’t been able to find anything concrete.

    1. Ignore my post. July CU were applied, but we missed June’s language dependent KB 5002403.
      Applied, all good.
