hello Stefan,
the documentation which reveals the windows system compatible with Office Online server was written in 2017 and at the moment we did not have Windows server 2019 yet so it is normal that the 2 are not compatible. so what about today knowing that Windows 2019 has been around since October 2018?

Hi Marie,
I would recommend to open a support case for this to get an official statement from the product group on this.

Hello Stefan,
Is this CU applied to Office Online Server 2016?
Thanks,

Hi Phu,
there is no Office Online Server 2016 or 2019. Office Online Server is an evergreen product.
If you are still using a build older than November 2018 then you need to uninstall it and install the November 2018 full install – all fixes since November 2018 only apply to the November 2018 full build of Office Online Server.

Stefan

Thanks for pointing out that the OOS is an evergreen product.
Please pardon me but what do you mean by a “build older than November 2018”? If I were to set up a brand new OOS farm and used the ISO file downloaded from the Volume Licensing Center, and then apply the latest patches on top of it, would it then be considered a build older than November 2018?
Thanks,

Hi Phu,
from the following page you can see that the last full release for Office Online Server was in November 2018 with version 16.0.10338.20039:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeonlineserver/office-online-server-release-schedule
Fixes released after November 2018 only apply to the November 2018 release.
Please check the version number of your Office Online server.
If the build is below 16.0.10338.20039 you need to uninstall it and install the November 2018 release to be able to apply updates.
Cheers,
Stefan
