June 2014 CU for SharePoint 2013 has been released

The product group released the June 2014 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2013 product family.

All packages except the CU package for SharePoint foundation are now available. The SharePoint foundation package will be available soon.

ATTENTION:

Be aware that all Update for SharePoint 2013 require SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 OR March 2013 PU for SharePoint 2013 to be installed first.

Please also have a look at the article that discusses how to properly patch a SharePoint 2013 farm which has Search enabled (see below).

Previous releases of the SharePoint Server 2013 cumulative update included both the executable and the .CAB file in the same self-extracting executable download. Because of the file size, the SharePoint Server 2013 package has been divided into several separate downloads. One contains the executable file, while the others contain the CAB file. All are necessary and must be placed in the same folder to successfully install the update. All are available by clicking the same Hotfix Download Available link in the KB article for the release.

The KB articles for June CU are available at the following locations:

  • KB 2881063 – SharePoint Foundation 2013 June 2014 CU (will be available soon)
  • KB 2881061 – SharePoint Server 2013 June 2014 CU
  • KB 2881062 – SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server June 2014 CU
  • KB 2881051 – Office Web Apps Server 2013 – be aware that Office Web Apps Server 2013 fixes will be released with a different cadence to SharePoint in the future.

The Full Server Packages for June 2014 CU are available through the following links:

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2013 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2013 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU. And the SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server CU contains Project Server CU, SharePoint Server CU and SharePoint Foundation CU.

  3. Stefan, thanks as always for providing this.

    Please note that your link above for the download of SPF 2013 June 2014 CU (now available!) goes to a page that specifies a download for the product "SharePoint Server 2013". This is however NOT the same page that your link for the download of SPS 2013 June
    2104 CU leads to (which has three downlloads on it all for SPS 2013.

    Is this yet another example of someone in MS thinking that SharePoint Foundation 2013 doesn't exist and that the only SP 2013 server product is called SharePoint Server 2013? In any case this ought to be corrected as at the moment it is very very confusing
    to go for a link for SPF 2013 and find a download for SPS 2013.

  4. Hi Mike,

    check the filename rather than the product: ubersts2013kb2881063fullfilex64glb

    "uber" = the server package containing all components for this specific product
    "sts" = internal name for sharepoint foundation (old name was sharepoint team services)
    "2013" = product version
    "kb2881061" = kb number
    "x64" = bitness
    "glb" = for all locales

    Cheers,
    Stefan

  5. Hi Danie,

    I guess you mean the June CU as there is no May CU.
    Regarding your question, please read the blog above in detail as it answers the question.
    For your convenience the relevant paragraph:

    "Previous releases of the SharePoint Server 2013 cumulative update included both the executable and the .CAB file in the same self-extracting executable download. Because of the file size, the SharePoint Server 2013 package has been divided into several separate
    downloads. One contains the executable file, while the others contain the CAB file. All are necessary and must be placed in the same folder to successfully install the update. All are available by clicking the same Hotfix Download Available link in the KB
    article for the release."

    Cheers,
    Stefan

  7. When will the WAC update be allowed to install on a SP1 patched WAC server? Get this error:
    Product: Microsoft Office Web Apps – Update '{39D6028C-1E72-47A0-8B29-A3607BB74DD4}' could not be installed. Error code 1646. Additional information is available in the log file C:UsersAdmin~1AppDataLocalTemp3wacserver-x-none_MSPLOG.LOG.

    Other folks have blogged about this error here:

    and here:

    But so far the suggestion has been to "uninstall everything" and reinstall / reconfigure everything which doesn't sit well with me.
