In case you are waiting for August CU for WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007: be aware that this update will not install if SP2 is not installed. Support for SP1 was retired on 13th July: https://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-gb&p1=12200&x=12&y=12

Microsoft has communicated an update on the retirement date for WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007. The official retirement date is July 13th. That means roughly 3 additional months compared to the normal retirement timeframe of “Next Service Pack release date plus 12 months”.
