November 2025 CU for SharePoint Server 2019 is available for download

Important: If your current farm patch level is September 2025 CU, remove the NT Authority\system account from WSS_WPG and IIS_IUSRS local security groups of the SharePoint machines – otherwise installing the SharePoint fixes will fail.

The product group released the November 2025 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server 2019 product family. SharePoint Server 2019 is patched with a language dependent and a language independent fix.

The KB article for November 2025 CU will be available at the following Location in a couple of hours:

  • KB 5002803 – November 2025 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent)
This is also a security update!
  • There was no language dependent fix released this month.
The most recent language dependent fix is KB 5002798 from October 2025 CU.
If this is not yet installed on your Farm, you need to install it together with the language independent fix.

The downloads for November 2025 CU are available through the following links:

Important: It is required to install both fixes (language dependent and independent) to fully patch a SharePoint server. This applies also to servers which do not have language packs installed. The reason is that each SharePoint installation includes a language dependent component together with a language independent component. If additional language packs are added later (only) the language dependent fix has to be applied again.

It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. Even the language dependent fixes are all in the same package for all languages.

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2019 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.

Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.

SharePoint 2019 November 2025 CU Build Number:

Language independent fix: 16.0.10417.20068

  1. Hey Stefan,

Apologies if this is a dumb question but if we already installed the October 2025 CU and ran the command for the Classic Workflows to run, do we need to again after installing the November 2025 CU? Thanks as always for your help!

  2. Hello Stefan,

I have 2 questions regarding known issues section in the KB. It is mentioned that we need to run a PS command to add an additional host for ULS. Is it mandatory to set other host. And what account we can provide as an additional host.

Also for “This update requires users to specify the library for storing the audit logs before they proceed”, should we provide a new local folder location or can we proceed with existing location.

Please help with these. Thank you in advance.

    1. Hi Ram,
The PS command is not for ULS. It is required in case you are using calling sitedirectorysettings.aspx from a machine which is not a server in your farm.
Pretty unlikely considering that this is an internal page and calling it directly or through custom code is not officially supported.

This library is only required if you are using the automatic trimming feature is enabled.
In this case you need to provide document library where the audit reports are stored before they get removed through trimming.
It does not matter if it is a new one or one you create for this purpose.
      Cheers,
      Stefan

      1. Hello Stefan,

Thank you for the clarification on PS command.

As per my understanding, we need to provide document library for audit logs only if automatic trimming feature is enabled in particular site collection before applying this update. Incase it is enabled, do we have to provide document library for audit reports for each site collection.

  3. I didn’t apply November patch yet, but I noticed the NT Authority/System is still in the WSS_WPG group. Isn’t this supposed to be fixed now or am I still going to have to remove them manually?

    1. Hi Mike,
this is expected and is also fine again with and after October CU.
The problem was resolved by reverting the permissions on the LAYOUTS folder with October CU.

      Stefan

  4. Question on whether I should install November CU. I am prepping our environment to upgrade to SharePoint Subscription Edition. Our SharePoint 2019 farm has July 2025 CU (plus zero day patches). Should I install November CU before I perform database attach upgrade? Or is it unnecessary since I will be upgrading to SE?

    1. Hi Dominique,
you can directly go from the current patch level to Subscription Edition.

  5. I am experiencing a weird issue in the UI after applying the update. For example, “New” button label in the home page shows as “CommandBar_NewPage” and “Publish” button as “CommandBar_Publish”. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Could it be a bug?

sounds as if the language dependent fix from October was not installed.
      Can you please double check?

  6. Hi Stefan,
Our SharePoint 2019 farm has July 2025 CU (plus zero day patches). Now I want to perform the update for October and November.
Question: Does psconfig.exe have to run after the October CU, or can it be done at the end, after installing binaries of both CUs?

    Reply

    1. Hi Ronald,
you should install all binaries first and then run the config wizard to upgrade.
The only fixes you have to install to patch to November 2025 CU from the zero day patch are these two:
KB 5002803 – November 2025 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent)
KB 5002798 – October 2025 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language dependent)

There is no need to install the language independent fix from October as it is included in the November fix.

      Cheers,
      Stefan

Can you precise if language independent fix from September or October 2025 CU ?
