After installing the October 2024 Cumulative Update (or any subsequent update) for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, the Date column values in lists may incorrectly display as December 30th, 1899, instead of the correct date, under the following conditions:
- The site locale uses a date format where the day precedes the month (e.g., DD.MM.YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY).
- The day value of the date is greater than 12 (e.g., December 14th, 2024).
- The list contains at least one column with custom formatting enabled using JSON (this column does not need to be the Date column)
February 2025 CU for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition includes a fix for this issue:

Dear Stefan and SP Community,
I was doing some testing related with incorrect date values and I noticed two things.
When using ‘Classic’ mode I don’t see anymore 1899 date. It is visible only for modern experience.
Now second thing and that could be something worth to be investigated.
*If it’s not right place then please move it to another topic as you wish.
When creating a column of ‘Date and time’ type and selecting ‘Default value’ as ‘Select a date and time’ > Enter a date > pick a date (I was trying to select a date from the past and today), once new column is created I’m not able to upload document or create new one.
For modern experience site is not doing anything when pushing to create a file, using classic mode I’m getting error:
Sorry, something went wrong
The URL ‘Shared Documents/[document name]’ is invalid. It may refer to a nonexisting file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in the current Web.
I was checking on different farms with February CU 2025 installed and with earlier versions – same behavior.
It’s working perfectly on SP2019.
I’m able to upload/create doc. without new column.
I’m wondering if this is a bug of Subscription Edition?
Kind Regards,
Kamil
