The product group released the June 2024 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition.
Monthly SharePoint Server Subscription edition updates are released as a single unified “uber” package containing both the language independent and language dependent fixes. Language independent and language dependent fixes will no longer be released separately. This is similar to the full server packages released for SharePoint 2013.
The KB article for June 2024 CU will be available at the following location in a couple of hours:
- KB 5002603 – June 2024 Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition
This is also a security update!
The download for June 2024 CU is available through the following link:
- Download June 2024 Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition
This is also a security update!
It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. It will always download the same package.
After installing the fix you need to run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.
Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.

The update mentions a fix for High CPU usage. Does anyone know what this fix is related to?
We see issues with high CPU usage and ULS log spam with:
Unexpected SafeSerialization[Context=parameter type of QueryExecutionFailed…
since update to December 2023 PU.

Hi Peter,
its an issue with the search index component introduced in September 2023 CU.
CPU usage on the application servers with search index components progressively increases.

Stefan

Thanks for the reply!
Is this issue with CPU usage fixed with June 2024 CU?

Hi –
I remember seeing a patch script for SP SE that greatly reduced patch installation time. However, I can’t seem to find it now, does anyone have a link?
Thank you,
Sergei

Here is the one I was interested in:
“Fixes an issue in which anonymous users cannot search in modern sites.”
I applied the patches and see no difference for my modern sites, but classic search still works (as it always had). I have never seen modern anonymous sites search work for my farms.
Do you have any more information on what this fixed?

Hi Steve,
unfortunately, this did not get resolved in the June 2024 CU and is expected to be resolved in the September Feature release.

Stefan

After patching with June 2024 CU & psconfig run –> we are getting the below error:-
“Unknown server tag ‘AdminControls:OCVSurveyContainer” only on the home page of the CA site (… /default.aspx), other pages are accessible with out any issues.
any idea on why this error is happening? psconfig is completed on all SP servers.

Hi Scarlet,
did you run PSConfig after installing the fix?
Because it sounds as if the necessary file copy operations for dlls have not been done after installing the binaries.

Hello, We have a MS case opened for this & they have updated that the issue is because of the missing component in the file system or web config file post an update was done in the farm.
Meanwhile I would like to know till which date MS support will be there for the KB5002603, is it one year from the patch release date or different tenure?, May i know where can I preview this information?.
Thanks in advance.
