The product group released the February 2023 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server 2019 product family. SharePoint Server 2019 is patched with a language dependent and a language independent fix.
The KB article for February 2023 CU will be available at the following Location in a couple of hours:
- KB 5002342 – February 2023 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent)
This is also a security update! - KB 5002330 – February 2023 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language dependent)
This is also a security update!
The downloads for February 2023 CU are available through the following links:
- Download February 2023 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent)
This is also a security update! - Download February 2023 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language dependent)
This is also a security update!
Important: It is required to install both fixes (language dependent and independent) to fully patch a SharePoint server. This applies also to servers which do not have language packs installed. The reason is that each SharePoint installation includes a language dependent component together with a language independent component. If additional language packs are added later (only) the language dependent fix has to be applied again.
It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. Even the language dependent fixes are all in the same package for all languages.
After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2019 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.
Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.
SharePoint 2019 February 2023 CU Build Number:
Language independent fix: 16.0.10395.20001
Language dependent fix: 16.0.10395.20001

Hi Stefan,
I think there is some minor typo in build numbers of this CU: I have seen (after my patch session) that correct numbers should be 16.0.10395.20001.
Keep your contributions on, we all really appreciate it – it´s great source of useful infos for admins all over the world.
With best wishes.

Hi,
Search stopped working after applying the CU, it is giving the following error, I also cannot access the search config from the central admin page!
The error:
The base type ‘Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Internal.UI.SearchResultsLayoutPage’ is not allowed for this page. The type Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Internal.UI.SearchResultsLayoutPage, Microsoft.Office.Server.Search, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c could not be found or it is not registered as safe.
** I added the following lines to web.config of the central admin site with no luck !
Any idea how to overcome this error?
Thank you for your great efforts.

Hi Stefan,
After deploying the KB 5002342 and KB 5002330, The block file type not only block file extensions, but also block the folder.
This issue is still existing.
Can you help me to double check it?
Thanks very much.

Hi Addison,
a fix was release with February 2023 CU but we got reports that no all scenarios are fixed.
A second fix for this issue which will resolve all such issues is currently planned to be included in April 2023 CU.
Cheers,
Stefan
