The product group released the November 2022 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. Similar to SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 SharePoint Server Subscription Edition is patched with a language dependent and a language independent fix.
The KB articles for November 2022 CU will be available at the following locations in a couple of hours:
- KB 5002296 – November 2022 Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (language independent)
This is also a security update! - KB 5002291 – November 2022 Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (language dependent)
This is also a security update!
The downloads for November 2022 CU are available through the following links:
- Download November 2022 Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (language independent)
This is also a security update! - Download November 2022 Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (language dependent)
This is also a security update!
Important: It is required to install both fixes (language dependent and independent) to fully patch a SharePoint server. This applies also to servers which do not have language packs installed. The reason is that each SharePoint installation includes a language dependent component together with a language independent component. If additional language packs are added later (only) the language dependent fix has to be applied again.
It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. Even the language dependent fixes are all in the same package for all languages.
After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.
Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.
SharePoint Server Subscription Edition November 2022 CU Build Number:
Language independent fix: 16.0.15601.20238
Language dependent fix: 16.0.15601.20238

Hi Stuart,
of course you only have to install the updates for the product version you have installed.
If you installed Subscription Edition there is no need to download and install updates for other SharePoint versions.

Hi Stefan,
Whether the below issue is resolved in November 2022 CU for SP2016/2019/Subscription Editions?
Known issues in this update
This update might affect some SharePoint 2010 workflow scenarios. It also generates “6ksbk” event tags in SharePoint Unified Logging System (ULS) logs. For more information, see SharePoint 2010 workflows might be blocked by enhanced security policy (KB5020238).

Hi Pradhu,
this is nothing that needs to be resolved. This is a side effect of a security fix.
If you have modified XOML files and stored them with different encoding you need to revert this back. SharePoint always stores them in UTF-8.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan.
Do you have any information about the known issues that MS published regarding the Sharepoint 2019 September CU (KB5002270) ?(in connection with Web Part Pages Web Service and Nintex workflows)
Those issues were fixed or they are still here?
Thanks in advance

Hi Tuboly,
there is nothing to fix. This new behavior is the result of a security fix. You need to apply the guidance from Nintex on this.
Cheers,
Stefan
