November 2022 CU for SharePoint Server 2019 is available for download

The product group released the November 2022 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server 2019 product family. SharePoint Server 2019 is patched with a language dependent and a language independent fix.

The KB article for November 2022 CU will be available at the following Location in a couple of hours:

  • KB 5002294 – November 2022 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent)
This is also a security update!
  • KB 5002295 – November 2022 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language dependent)
This is also a security update!

The downloads for November 2022 CU are available through the following links:

Important: It is required to install both fixes (language dependent and independent) to fully patch a SharePoint server. This applies also to servers which do not have language packs installed. The reason is that each SharePoint installation includes a language dependent component together with a language independent component. If additional language packs are added later (only) the language dependent fix has to be applied again.

It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. Even the language dependent fixes are all in the same package for all languages.

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2019 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.

Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.

SharePoint 2019 November 2022 CU Build Number:

Language independent fix: 16.0.10392.20000
Language dependent fix: 16.0.10392.20000

  1. Hi Stefan,
“Fixes an issue in which Document ID is editable when you use Modern UI ?”
Does this mean they made it back uneditable like in classic UI ?

    1. Hi Gerard,
yes – the field was made readonly in modern UI.

    2. Sorry to spoil the party, but after the CUdec22 we “lost the documentID in the properties panel (InfoPanel)”. This was a known issue with the CUfeb21 for SP2016.
It fixes the editable issue, but is not veru elegant, to say the least.

Is this correct, or are we missing something ? We see nobody complaining about this.

  2. Stefan, not sure if you can comment this, but it appears that the length of time to run the Configuration Wizard on each server post 2019 binary install takes twice as long as compared to 2016. I have not done an exhaustive analysis, but when it hits task 9 of 10, the time it takes to loop through every content database is longer than in 2016. I should add that I upgrade the content databases separately prior to running the Configuration Wizard on each server. This procedure appears to run normally as compared to 2016. Do others experience the same and is this expected behavior. TIA.

    1. Hi Tom, i am currently having the same issue, the wizard is stuck on Task 9 and won’t progress. How did you handle this issue? Did you just wait it out?

  3. I still have the issue with the navigation and the links in the gear menu since a half year. This patch is not fixing it. Any idea?

5.sp-pages-navigation.js is showing errors in the browser.

    1. Hi Alexander,

if you installed both the language dependent and independent fix the issue should be resolved.
If not, please open a ticket with Microsoft to analyze the issue you are facing in more detail as it would then be a different issue with similar symptoms.

      Cheers,
      Stefan
