  1. Hi Stefan,

Is it ok to install the security update and do not run the psconfig wizard for a month on all the servers. For some reason the patch installation took long time and we were exhausted the downtime window. Now business does not want to give us downtime for next 1 month on the production environment due to some internal events. Can we run the psconfig after a month? And do you see any issues with this?

    1. Hi Karen,
the config wizard is required also for security fixes. some security fixes would not be active if the wizard was not run.

SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 allow zero downtime patching including running PSConfig.
In case you have an older SharePoint version I would recommend to plan upgrade to the newer version to make us of the improved patching experience.
      Cheers,
      Stefan

  2. Thank you Stefan. We are planning to run the psconfig on 2013 servers. It is just that it will be delayed due to business not giving any downtime in next 3 weeks.

  3. We have Security Updates for MS Sharepoint Enterprise Server 2013 (october and november) installed on one of the app server in farm on the other updates not installed. No option to uninstall updates available, also not sure which one we should consider problematic and act on. One with update installed or not installed for not sure what reason (updates pushed from our wsus server). Tried uninstall with wusa, no luck. Configuration wizard not run jet on neither of two app servers.
Go and remove server with installed updates from farm and re-install Sharepoint or try to manually download and install Security updates which are missing on other server ?!

    1. Hi Ivana,
      SharePoint fixes cannot be uninstalled.
You should install the same patches on the other servers in the farm.
Alternatively you can remove the servers from the farm that have accidentely be upgraded and reinstall them afterwards to the older patch level before joining them back into the farm.
      Cheers,
      Stefan
