The product group released the June 2020 Cumulative Update for SharePoint Server 2019 product family. SharePoint Server 2019 is patched with a language dependent and a language independent fix.
The KB article for June 2020 CU will be available at the following Location in a couple of hours:
- KB 4484400 – June 2020 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent) – This is also a security update!
- KB 4484404 – June 2020 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language dependent)
The download for June 2020 CU is available through the following link:
- Download June 2020 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language independent) – This is also a security update!
- Download June 2020 Update for SharePoint Server 2019 (language dependent)
Important: It is required to install both fixes (language dependent and independent) to fully patch a SharePoint server. This applies also to servers which do not have language packs installed. The reason is that each SharePoint installation includes a language dependent component together with a language independent component. If additional language packs are added later (only) the language dependent fix has to be applied again.
It is irrelevant which language you pick on the drop down in download center. Even the language dependent fixes are all in the same package for all languages.
After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2019 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.
Please ensure to have a look at the SharePoint Patching Best Practices before applying new fixes.
SharePoint 2019 June 2020 CU Build Number:
Language independent fix: 16.0.10361.12114
Language dependent fix: 16.0.10360.20000

Hi Stefan,
there is an Issue with Project Server not saving Settings (checkboxes) with Chrome/Edge 80+. It has been fixed in Online and 2019 (see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4484400, “This security update contains fixes for the following nonsecurity issues in Project Server 2019”), but not in 2016/2013/2010. Are you aware whether the same fix is in the works for the previous versions as well? Knowing About it would make it easier to decide how to best make a suitable call.
Thank you and best regards,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
from what I see a fix for 2016 is planned to be included in July 2020 CU.
Older Project Server versions (2013, 2010) are out of mainstream support and only security fixes are created for these SharePoint versions.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hey Stefan, do you have a road map for SharePoint 2019 on premise I could see? Thanks!

Hi Richard,
I’m not sure what you mean.
We are releasing new patches for SharePoint 2019 on a monthly basis per our support lifecycle policy:

Hi Stefan,
Long time follower first time poster. We just deployed the KB 4484400 to our sharepoint 2019 environment. Now all of a sudden sharepoint is telling us that the language pack was deployed. We never installed any language packs. Can you help to explain this?
Hi Yash,
what exact info do you get?
which language pack? You need to install one for each language.
Also be aware that one language is already coming with your sharepoint installation. If you install (e.g.) english sharepoint you install the language independent parts and the english language components.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan…. I am now seeing on the serve that Microsoft Server Proof (Arabic) 2019 along with English, French, German, Russian, Spanish and that the Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2019 1033 Language Pack where installed. The language independent updates were downloaded. for example :202006-sts2019-kb4484400-fullfile-x64-glb
Permalink
Ok, 1033 is english-United States. The proofing tools are always installed in multiple versions – independent from the language pack.

So does this mean that going forward the updates that are language dependant should be installed? or should we continue with the language independent updates?

Hi Stefan,
the SharePoint 2013 Update https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4484515 lists KB4572409 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4572409/sharepoint-pages-not-render-when-using-unsafe-controls as known issues. We do experience comparable breaking issues with this month’s SharePoint 2016 update, mostly with pages instead of web parts.
Are you aware whether a) it is intentional that these known issue affect SP2016 as well as SP2010/SP2013 (which are listed in KB4572409) and b) these changes will presumably permanent?
Thank you and best regards,
Adrian
