November 2019 CU for SharePoint 2010 product family is available for download

The product group released the November 2019 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

For November 2019 CU we have full server packages (also known as Uber packages) for SharePoint Foundation, SharePoint Server and Project Server.

As this is a common question: Yes, November 2019 CU includes all SharePoint security fixes released with November 2019 PU.

Be aware that CU is a Post-SP2 hotfix. It is required to have SP2 installed before installing the CU.
It is required to have SP2 installed for the base product and all installed language packs to install November 2019 CU for SharePoint 2010.

This CU includes all SharePoint 2010 fixes (including all SharePoint 2010 security fixes) released since SP2. The CU does not include SP2.

The KB articles for November 2019 CU should be available at the following locations in a couple of hours:

  • KB 4484165 – SharePoint Foundation 2010 November 2019 CU
  • KB 4484162 – SharePoint Server 2010 November 2019 CU
  • KB 4484161 – Project Server 2010 November 2019 CU

The Full Server Packages for November 2019 CU are already available through the following links:

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm. If you prefer to run the command line version psconfig.exe ensure to have a look here for the correct options.

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

  1. Hello Stefan,

We are having issue on SharePoint 2010 search not returning results for Read users. The green loading image keeps on turning and no results shown. Weirdly if i allow Edit permission to those users, they start to return results again.

This seem to happen since we updated Nov 2019 patch. We have opened a Microsoft Ticket #:17****32

    Version: SP2010 SP2 SharePoint Server 2010 (Enterprise)

Also would like to know if there is any impact of installing KB 4484165 – SharePoint Foundation 2010 November 2019 CU on SharePoint Server 2010 (Enterprise) instead of KB 4484162 – SharePoint Server 2010 November 2019 CU. Somehow by mistake Foundation Server Patch has been installed on Enterprise Version.

Similar Issue was reported on August 2019 Foundation Server Patch.

    1. Hi Gautam,
yes – this is a known problem introduced with August 2010 CU.
The product group is investigating the issue.
There is no negative impact in installing the Foundation fix only. Just be aware that you should install the Server CU on top to get all the fixes released in November.
      Cheers,
      Stefan

  2. Hi Stefan!

I`ve installed the KB4484165 last evening on a SP2010 SP2 SharePoint Server (Standard) and since this morning i get errors within the people search:

Dieses Webpart kann nicht angezeigt werden. Öffnen Sie diese Webseite in einem mit Microsoft SharePoint Foundation kompatiblen HTML-Editor, z. B. in Microsoft SharePoint Designer, um dieses Problem zu behandeln. Falls das Problem weiterhin besteht, wenden Sie sich an Ihren Webserveradministrator

Can this be related to Gautam`s error and was it a mistake to install the Foundation patch on a standard installation?

    Thanks!
    Br

    1. Hi Rene,
does this happen also to users with edit permission? If yes, it is unrelated.
4484165 is a security fix for SharePoint Server as well – so this not a mistake.
      Cheers,
      Stefan

        1. Hi Rene,
          then this sounds unrelated.
I would suggest to open a ticket with Microsoft support if you need assistance to get this resolved.
          Cheers,

          1. Ok thanks!

One last question. As far as i know a rollback of a cumulative update is not possible or recommended. Or is this false?

If a rollback would be possible i can at least test if this error is related to the update or not.

          2. Hi Rene,

indeed you cannot uninstall SharePoint fixes.
For that reason we recommend to have a test environment to evaluate the fixes before applying them in production.

            Cheers,
            Stefan

          3. Ok, great!
            🙂
