SharePoint security fixes released with January 2016 PU and offered through Microsoft Update

IMPORTANT: read the following post before applying the security fix:

With January 2016 PU we have released security fixes for SharePoint which are offered through Microsoft Update.
For the following SharePoint products and components fixes have been released:
SharePoint 2007 Suite:

  • none

SharePoint 2010 Suite:

  • none

SharePoint 2013 Suite:

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013

    Is this update a CU or a PU. The KB article says it is a CU.

      which KB do you refer to?
      The link is for the security bulletin (not a KB article) which contains the download links for the security fixes.

      1. The title of the blog post is: SharePoint security fixes released with January 2016 PU.
        Shouldn’t that be the January 2016 CU for SharePoint? Or am I misreading?

    is MS16-004 only for SharePoint Foundation 3013 or for both enterprise version and foundation?

  3. Never mind. I run Microsoft update on one SP enterprise server and this security update KB3114503 for SharePoint Foundation 2013 is coming up as needed.

    1. SharePoint Foundation security fixes are always relevant to SharePoint Server and project Server as SharePoint foundation is an integral part of the other two products.
