SharePoint security fixes released with May 2015 PU and offered through Microsoft Update

With May PU we have release a number of security fixes for SharePoint which are offered through Microsoft Update.

For the following SharePoint products and components fixes have been released:

SharePoint 2007 Suite:

  • SharePoint Server 2007

SharePoint 2010 Suite:

  • SharePoint Foundation 2010
  • SharePoint Server 2010
  • Word Automation Services 2010
  • Excel Services 2010
  • Microsoft Office Web Apps 2010

SharePoint 2013 Suite:

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013
  • SharePoint Server 2013
  • Word Automation Services 2013
  • Excel Services 2013
  • Microsoft Office Web Apps 2013

See the security bulletin MS15-046 and MS15-047 below for more details and KB numbers for the relevant fixes:

May PU solves the problem with the different SP1 baselines introduced in April PU/CU. May PU can be installed as well on the old and on the new SP1 baseline!

  1. Sweet that they fixed that baseline issue. We halted patching after failing with the dev farm. Will be looking forward to the upgrade for 2 months!

  2. Hi Stefan
    The MS15-046 (Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office Could Allow Remote Code Execution (3057181) ) contains the patches for SharePoint components as well. Should we run PSCONFIG after the patching ?

    For MS15-047 its clear that we need to run the PSCONFIG , but MS15-046 information is not clear it seems .

  3. PSConfig must be run after all types of sharepoint patches. No exceptions.

  4. Under SharePoint 2013 Suite, Word Automation and Excel services 2010 is listed. Did you mean Word Automation and Excel services 2013

    Quick question, will MS15-047 affect SharePoint 2007 with a db schema of 12.0.0.6510?

  10. I see where CUs can be downloaded, however, where can you download a PU from?

  12. Does pu include all previous security updates or may cu 2015 include both pu n security updates? Or do we need install them separately i.e may cu, pu and security updates?

    May PU does NOT include all previous security fixes. May CU does.

  14. is their any way to check in the CAB files if previous security fixes in it?

  15. You Can extract it and if the msp file for the same components are included the it contains the prev fixes.
