The product group released the March 2015 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2010 product family.
For March 2015 CU we again have full server packages (also known as Uber packages). No other CU is required to fully patch SharePoint.
Be aware that the March Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP2 hotfix. It is required to have SP2 installed before installing the March CU.
It is required to have SP2 installed for the base product and all installed language packs to install March 2015 CU for SharePoint 2010.
This CU includes all SharePoint 2010 fixes released since SP2. The CU does not include SP2.
The KB articles for March CU will be available at the following locations in a couple of days:
- KB 2956208 – SharePoint Foundation 2010 – Note: this is also a security fix!
- KB 2956201 – SharePoint Server 2010
- KB 2956198 – Project Server 2010
The Full Server Packages for March 2015 CU are available through the following links:
- Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 March 2015 CU
- Download SharePoint Server 2010 March 2015 CU
- Download Project Server 2010 March 2015 CU
After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.
Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

Hi Stefan,
Is the link of "Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 March 2015 CU" wrong? It looks like a security patch of SharePoint Foundation 2013.

Thanks Eric!
I corrected the link.

Stefan

Hi Stefan,
What package should one use to upgrade Sharepoint Search Server Express 2010 (currently running SP2)? Foundation or Server Edition?
Hi Carlos,
honestly I don’t know as I never installed this product myself.
So I would install the Server patch as it includes both the foundation and the server patches and will upgrade all components found on the system.

Hi Stefan,
I was wondering if there is any plans to release April CU? The Pages library is broken after Feb 15 CU and I am hoping the fix will be provided for this on April CU since wasnt included in March CU. Or would you advise i should open a support ticket for Microsoft
for this?
Thanks, Ali

Hi Ali,
the issue you mentioned is currently scheduled to be fixed in May CU.
In general you should always open a ticket with Microsoft as Microsoft will not fix a problem without a support case. In this scenario another customer raised a case – so a fix is in the works as – as mentioned earlier – scheduled for May CU.

Stefan

Hi Stefan, Thanks for good instructions!
I have a general question about updates in SharePoint, I often see this recommendation to run SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard after install and yes i make sense to me, but is it also necessary to run the wizard after hot fixes (KB) to?
Any idéa?

Hi Per,
hotfixes consist of two different things: binaries (dlls, js files, …) and changes to stored procedures.
installing a fix will only replace the binaries – but will not update the stored procedures.
So in order to apply the changes to the databases you need to run the PSCONFIG wizard.

Stefan

Hi Stefan
After a long search , we decided to go for March 2015 CU for all our Farm because the search did not find any regressions for this CU . However last week when we upgraded the most important farm , we could find the the emails are stuck in the Drop folder .
We have done the workaround mentioned in
https://www.vioreliftode.com/index.php/sharepoint-incoming-e-mails-stuck-in-drop-folder/ . The issue got fixed now , however do you have any update on this when MS fixed this permanently ? in May 2015 CU ?
Secondly , most of our first reference is your blog whenever there are patch releases , it would be great if you could add a section for Issues fixed in the CU and Known issues reported for that CU . It will easy for us to identify and take decision accordingly
.
Regards
Shany

Hi Shany,
if I would be allowed to list such known issues I would blog about them.
But such communication is reserved by the product group.
