The product group released the February 2015 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2010 product family.
For February 2015 CU we again have full server packages (also known as Uber packages). No other CU is required to fully patch SharePoint.
Be aware that the February Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP2 hotfix. It is required to have SP2 installed before installing the February CU.
This CU includes all SharePoint 2010 fixes released since SP2. The CU does not include SP2.
Attention: this CU no longer supports SP1! It is required to have SP2 installed for the base product and all installed language packs to install February 2015 CU for SharePoint 2010.
The KB articles for February CU will be available at the following locations in a couple of days:
- KB 2910904 – SharePoint Foundation 2010
- KB 2899558 – SharePoint Server 2010
- KB 2899557 – Project Server 2010
The Full Server Packages for February 2015 CU are available through the following links:
- Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 February 2015 CU
- Download SharePoint Server 2010 February 2015 CU
- Download Project Server 2010 February 2015 CU
After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.
Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

Hi Stefan,
is it intended that this (Project and) SharePoint Server 2010 update is automatically pushed via Windows Updates?
In that case, I foresee a lot excited and delighted administrators.
Best regards,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
no. These patches should not be deployed via Windows Update.

I have received comments that the download links in the KB article seem to be unreliable (sometimes working, sometimes redirecting to a not found page).
If you have troubel with the links in the KB articles please use the links from my blog post. They have a different format and should work reliable.

Background:
We were trying to formalize a plan for our client to upgrade SharePoint 2010 SP2 and the latest CU update.
And found some discrepancies in what other fiorums was suggesting for the same.
CU released after July 2014 doesnot include the prior fixes. Only Feb 2015 CU has them.
For now, we have planned to install for the following:
1. SharePoint 2010 SP2
2. Cumulative Update for July 2014
Approach:
1. Install Sp2 and July 2014 in Dev, test it, wait for a month and install in UAT
2. Test in UAT for 1.5 months and install on PROD, after all is fine.
Suggestion required from you:
• MS has released a new Cumulative update on Feb 2015 which has all the fixes from SP2 launch.
o My question to forum is whether to install Feb 2015 update or not?
• Any recommendations or suggestions otherwise.
Awaiting your speedy response. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Paramvir,
all CUs after July CU (except potentially October and August CU as these were released without the Uber packages) should have all the fixes from July CU and before.
which specific fix are you talking about?
Thanks,
Stefan

I had one quick question: I have Sp1 and August 2013 CU which came after SP2 installed in my SP 2010 Farm. Can I deploy February 2015 CU or do i need to install SP2 first.
Thanks,
Jay S.

Hi Jay,
SP1 is no longer supported and current fixes cannot be installed without SP2.
So you need to install SP2 first and then February 2015 CU.

Stefan,

Hi,
I am missing the January CU because of the monthly basis CUs get released normally. Is a January CU out there? If not, is there a Special reason?
Greetings
Andre

Hi Andre,
there is no January CU I would not expect one in the next couple of years.
Reason is that during Christmas season many people involved in the hotfix creation are out of office.
Cheers,
Stefan
