   What about the security update
   http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2760319? Is it same than July 2014 CU? Build version numbers seem to be the same.

   If we want to install August 2014 CU with that security update installed, what to do with July 2014 CU? Is it needed or will it even install at all?

   Hi Rene,
   both can happen. In the pat the Uber packages often got delayed due to problems in one of the included packages. As we now ship CUs every month rather than every second month the time available to fix a problem is reduced causing the Uber not to be released.
   But in general the idea I to also ship the Uber packages in the future.

   Hi Piotr,
   the SharePoint CUs are still cumulative and have always been. Someone stating something else is just wrong. I will explain in detail why in a post I’m planning to release next week.
   Regarding the language packs: We never shipped language packs in CUs – we shipped fixes for language packs in CUs. And that has not changed.

   Hi Buah,
   the CU includes the PU which includes the security fix.
   So installing the August CU is sufficient – but as August CU only ships the packages which have changed between July and August you still need to install July CU to make sure your server has all recent updates..

   for instlling the Patch on my Project Server 2013 SP1, i have to observe the following sequence:

   1. July 2014 CU Project Server and Sharepoint Server
   2. KB 2883081 – SharePoint Foundation 2013 August 2014 CU
   3. KB 2883086, KB 2883085, KB 2883078, KB 2880559, KB 2760213 – SharePoint Server 2013 August 2014 CU
   4. KB 2883083 – SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server August 2014 CU
   5. Start the Configuration Wizard

   Is it right?

    Hi Benedikt,
    as SharePoint fixes are cumulative the sequence is not relevant.
    You can install them in any order.

    if you mean the one regarding personal site link in people search result is broken due to encoding for ” between domain name and user name: that is currently planned to be fixed in September CU – but as usual it can slip to a later CU. Best would be to open
    a support case as this will guarantee that you are updated automatically about all changes.

    There is also an update which is distributed via Windows Update: KB2880998. It is called "Update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Farm Server 2013". KB article details are very short: Improves performance and stability.
    Where can I find more details for this update? Is this update included in the August CU as well?

    if you look at my July CU article you will find this paragraph:

    Previous releases of the SharePoint Server 2013 cumulative update included both the executable and the .CAB file in the same self-extracting executable download. Because of the file size, the SharePoint Server 2013 package has been divided into several separate
    downloads. One contains the executable file, while the others contain the CAB file. All are necessary and must be placed in the same folder to successfully install the update. All are available by clicking the same Hotfix Download Available link in the KB
    article for the release.

    "Be aware that for SharePoint Server you have to install the SharePoint Foundation fixes as well! Same for Project Server where you have to install the SharePoint Foundation and the SharePoint Server fixes."

    So August CU is an exception here.

    So is there some place where it is described what should be installed, and in what order, when installing a totally fresh SP2013 server? I can download the binaries for SP2013+SP1 and then just pop July CU and August CU there…? Or should I install some
    other CU's as well in addition to the SP1? I'd very much like to see a page that gives the overview of the whole fresh installation process, and is updated when new CU's/SPs are released…

    The build Version visible in central admin is just the foundation piece. It filled not give any info about SharePoint server patch level.
    Tho version does not tell you much about the farm patch level.

    There is a issue on PowerPivot Galery, when I save a report PowerView and after I edit this report and save again, appears an error about the name this report because it have a spaces (%20 special character) and don’t save report.
    The CU August fix it?

    I've been creating a slipstreamed build for SharePoint 2013, starting with SP2013 including SP1, and was told that I only needed to download the SharePoint Server CU's not the Foundation CU's as these were included with the SPS CU's.
    Now I've got to August and it's telling me that the patches are older than the SharePoint SP1 service pack, and yet I've double checked the files and they appear to be the correct ones.
    Three Questions:
    1. Do I now have to go back to April 2014 and download, extract and slipstream all the foundation CU's into the build.
    2. If I have to do the above, do I need to install them and /or re-slipstream the SPS updates as well, in any order.
    3. Any idea why the system is responding with the above when I try and slipstream the 5 August 2014 CU files?

    The files I have for August are: 477566_intl_x64_zip, 477586_intl_x64_zip, 477592_intl_x64_zip, 477598_intl_x64_zip, and 477600_intl_x64_zip,

    Hello Stefan,

    We have latest CU (March 2015) install on the SharePoint server. Do we still need to install old CU??

    Because, when i add "site users" web part on page, i am not able to see user status. This is happening only for web part, for other places like Modified by, i am able to see users status.
    when i googled for the issue, they all are saying that this is bug form MS and resolve in Dec 2013 CU.
    Please suggest me…

    Thanks Stefan for clarifying this!.

    Not sure why Microsoft keep puzzling everyone (or themselves may be :-)). It took a while for everyone to get used to NOT installing Foundation patches for Server version and now they are saying install Foundation again on your SharePoint Server instance and
    just do it for this CU? Good work Microsoft!
