SharePoint Server 2013 with SP1 ("slipstream") is now available for download

You can now download SharePoint 2013 with SP1 from MSDN and VLSC and MPN.

A couple of people already tried to create their own slipstream version using RTM and SP1. Please avoid doing this as this is unsupported due to a change in the package layout which was introduced with March 2013 PU. Due to this change in the package layout it is not guaranteed that the manually created slipstream version will update all modules correctly. Ensure to download the official SharePoint 2013 with SP1 from one of the above listed sites.

  6. Hello Stefan,
We are transitioning this week from TFS2010 to TFS2013 on W2012R2, this makes the SharePoint2010 transition far friendlier. I just want to confirm before starting my testing, I can now use the SharePoint2013w/SP1 slipstream ISO available on MSDN to install directly onto a fresh W2012R2 install?
    Thanks Stefan

  15. Hi Stefan,
Can you please tell me the direct link for slipstream download on SP2013 SP1.

The one mentioned above http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42039 is SharePoint Foundation 2013 with SP1 and I am looking SP Server 2013 with SP1.

Just to clarify… Can I install it directly on Windows Server 2012 R2? No need to install SP2013 RTM first.

I saw in above comments that you have mentioned to click one of the above links. I can't seem to find any links.

    Please help ASAP.

    Reply

  22. Linda,

I'd also like to know that. Particularly, I do not know such a document, but it has been always a recommended practice doing this kind of procedure by testing it in a test environment. I would do that this way:

    1. Test everything
    2. Update SP
    3. Test everything
    4. Upgrade OS
    5. Test everything

I think it would be important this order, because Windows Server 2012 R2 is not supposed to support SharePoint Server 2013 before SP1 version.

Since you have gotten a detailed checklist and mitigate the issues, apply this on production environment, observing this recent warning from MS about SP1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817429.

  23. Hmm. I guess you guys (MS) should just take down the Sharepoint Server 2013 evaluation download links then, right? Since those aren't slipstream versions of the product, they are completely useless in that they simply cannot be installed! My evaluation results so far? Doggie doo-doo. 🙁

    Reply

  24. Hi James,
The eval version is RTM and can be installed on all OS which are supported for RTM.
    So it is not useless.

  30. Stefan-

I don't know how often you or your team check(s) this archive thread – but perhaps for you, or anyone coming upon it (after searching extensively for a solution to the Server 2012R2 and SharePoint 2013 incompatibilities I'm writing this.

1)For anyone just interested in the basics- SharePoint FOUNDATION 2013 (Slip streamed with SP1) and Server 2012R2 are compatible. (this again found after much searching!)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42039

2)That said- Foundation is weakened and is missing a lot of business/office 2013 connectivity options as well as any performance metric options. I'd really wanted to try these – only to find many of the features and templates simply missing.

    A Handy comparison is here:

    http://www.apps4rent.com/sharepoint-2013-features-comparison.html

So I have to echo some of the previous comments. If something is named 2012, and the other 2013- Perhaps it's logical to make the full 2013 eval SharePoint compatible with the full and latest 2012R2 Eval. I know it's a marketing name convention- but still…
It's not enough to say "It's not available"

One has to dig deep in the Eval Download section for the throwaway line (scroll and plus icon for software requirements)

"Windows Server 2012 R2 is only supported on a SharePoint Server 2013 Service Pack 1 environment. For additional information about Windows Server 2012 R2 support, see SharePoint 2013 SP1 support in Windows Server 2012 R2."

    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/cc262485(v=office.15).aspx

How hard would it be to simply put the full slipstreamed version up for eval. How can an organization evaluate something which doesn't work for the things Share Point is useful for (Business Intelligence linked to full Office 2013 client installs)

    Additionally-

Can someone name something "SharePoint Server 2012 WITH Service Pack 1" So that we know it's slip streamed and not just the service pack? Again – not your normal marketing naming convention- but given all the conflicting information out there regarding this
particular service pack (its earlier recall etc) some clarity is in order.

More clarity and consistency across product lines/teams from Microsoft would be a welcome change.

  31. Hi Stefan,
    I agree with C. Mills.

    1) Offering a evaluation version of 2013 SP1 that can install on Windows Server 2012 R2 would be useful.

I just spent the time standing up a 2012 R2 server and installing SQL server to painfully discover that I can’t install on R2. Ouch.

We don’t have a MSDN license, so I can’t download a slip streamed version of 2013 Server sp1

    Uggh.

to confirm that I am not affected?

  35. Hi Lori,

the only reason for the re-release was that no further hotfix could be installed on top.

Slipstream did not have the problem.
When you plan to install a post-SP1 CU in the future you will see if it works or not.
If you have problems just install the re-released SP1 on top of your install.

    Stefan

if you managed to install a post SP1 CU you are fine. The re-release of SP1 was required as the original one prevented further CUs from installing.
The slipstream was not affected by this issues.
