April 2013 CU for SharePoint 2010 has been released

The product group released the April 2013 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

Be aware that the April Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP1 hotfix. That means that you should ensure that SP1 is installed before the April CU.

The KB articles for April CU will be availabe at the following locations in a couple of days:

  • KB 2794728 – SharePoint Foundation 2010
  • KB 2775353 – SharePoint Server 2010
  • KB 2775426 – SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server
As you see there is a separate Full Server Package for SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server which simplifies patching of this common installation.

The Full Server Packages for April 2013 CU are available through the following links:

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU. And the SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server CU contains Project Server CU, SharePoint Server CU and SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

  3. Hi guys. I'm experience a similar issue and found a workaround. That is by turning off the Web App Security Validation settings (in Central Admin -> Manage Web Application -> [select the web app] -> general settings). I don't recommend doing this in prod though.  Cheers.

  5. Stefan,

I am a big reader of your blogs. Thank you for posting!

I did have a question regarding the process of slipstreaming install media for SharePoint 2010 Server. It seems that there is an issue slipstreaming past Aug 2012 or higher CUs as they overwrite product updates for March 2012.

Any suggestions on the proper way to slipstream a "gold" install media? Just to make things a little more complex we are running office web apps and project server.

    Thank you for your time

  6. Hi Rob,

March 2013 a PU has been released – no CU.

October 2012 and later CUs already include the March 2013 PU. So it makes sense that it overwrites it.

    Cheers,

    Stefan

  7. Hello Stefan,

It seems there is a regression on the managed metadata service with the April 2013 CU:

Are you aware about any post CU hotfix for solving this / or workaround ?

At a client we have install this CU on our DEV / INT environment and we are stuck with the testing because of this.

    Many thanks.

    Cheers,

    Etienne.

  8. Hi Etienne,

sorry, I'm not aware of this issue. Haven't found any references in current hotfix requests.

I would recommend to open a support case to get this analyzed and to ensure that you get a fix at earliest time.

    Cheers,

    Stefan

  9. We too have had Note Board Webpart not posting new comments, as reported by the first two comments here (Jussi and Sjoerd). Additionally, the "Next" link does not work. When pressed, it displays message "Working", but nothing happens.    Initial report from testing, was only to do with the "Next" link, which appear to get fixed when you change the number of comments displayed on the web part (custom properties at the end).

  10. Hi Stefan

According to Microsoft’s Website (April 2013 CU)

    support.microsoft.com/default.aspx

"Because the builds are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and security updates that were included in the previous SharePoint Server 2010 update package releases."

    Question 1)

    Can I Install SharePoint Server RTM ==> SP1 ==> April 2013 CU ? Or

    SharePoint Server RTM ==> SP1 ==> June 2011 CU ==> April 2013 CU?

Because I was told by some Developers that you need pre-requisite update like June 2011 or even here :

    http://www.toddklindt.com/…/April2013CU.aspx

    Build Number: 14.0.6137.5000

Release Branch: SP2 (requires SP1 and December 2012 CU before installation)

Sorry ,I am really confusing.at our company ,we have Sp2010 with over 10GB database so i don’t want to see any failure.

    Question 2)

at my Home ,I have Updated SP Via Windows Update and I checked File Version in Folder

C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedWeb Server Extensions14ISAPI

    and I have 2 File "OWSSVR.DLL" & "Microsoft.SharePoint.dll" with version 14.0.6137.5002

But in Central Administration =>Manage Patch Status , I see all Products with Version "14.0.6029.1000"

    So Is this Normal ?

  11. Q1) RTM, SP1, April 2013 CU is perfectly fine as it includes all previous CUs including June 2011 CU.

Q2) No that is not normal. Either you did not run PSConfig after installing the fixes or some fixes haven't been installed.
