In case that the answer to the question above is “Yes” – be aware that mainstream support for this product will end at October 9th, 2012 (see on the official support lifecycle page).
Extended support will be provided till October 10th, 2017.
That means that no new hotfixes will be created for WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 after October 9th, 2012 – except security fixes.

CUs are regular Hotfixes and not security fixes. CUs contain all type of fixes including security fixes.
After end of Mainstream Support there will not be any more CUs.

it ONLY applies to users who are on SP2 or SP3.
Older patch levels are no longer unsupported.
